Teledentistry is a consultation with your dentist via phone or video, for eligible patients, such as those seeking urgent care but unable to travel, the
particularly vulnerable or those who aren’t sure if it warrants an emergency treatment. It may include the provision of oral health or treatment information and referral, and is an extra service out of business hours. The purpose of the consultation is to identify the issue, give advice, identify if the problem needs emergency orthodontics or an emergency dental solution, or identify a plan or solution for non-emergency situations.
You qualify for Teledentistry if you’re experiencing pain, discomfort or concern about your dental condition, such as:
– Toothache
– Broken or loose tooth
– Trauma
– Emergency orthodontics
– Broken dentures/crowns/bridges
– Pain level between 3-5 (*see chart below)
It cannot be used for:
– General check ups
– Cosmetic dentistry
A Teledentistry session costs $65, to identify the problem and course of action. If the patient needs to physically come in to the clinic for emergency treatment, no second consultation fee will be charged. There may be other fees, however, relating to the treatment itself. The $65 covers the consultation only.
This varies depending on your provider.
