Dentures are an oral restoration solution for anyone with several missing or decayed teeth. Often made from acrylic, resin, nylon, metal or porcelain, they’re a removable oral appliance that sits firmly on your upper or lower jaw.
Full dentures replace an entire row of missing teeth. They often rest on top of your gums and rely on the roof of your mouth or lower jawbone for support. You might also need to utilise denture glue to keep them in place.
If you’re missing several teeth on one or both jaws, partial dentures might be the best solution for you. Similar to full dentures, they rely on your gums and bone structure for support. However, they are more stable than full dentures as they can hook around your natural teeth.
We can’t fit dentures on unhealed gums. As a result, you can opt for immediate dentures as a temporary fix after teeth extractions.

Implant-supported dentures are a more permanent solution and are non-removable dentures completely secured to dental implants.

When you come in for your consultation, our friendly dentists will take an X-ray of your mouth to determine whether you’re eligible for dentures. If you require any teeth extracted, they will need to be fully removed, and the gums will need to be fully healed before the first fitting.
Once we’ve determined that you’re eligible for dentures, we’ll take impressions of your upper and lower jaws to make a dental mould and create the denture. This process could take some time as a technician off-site creates them.
Finally, you’re ready to get your dentures fitted. Typically, dentures require at least three visits to ensure they are correctly fitted. This is because it can take some time for the soft tissues in your mouth to adjust to the denture. It’s important that you let us know if you experience discomfort with your dentures in between appointments to ensure that the fit is right.
